Sharon Morris Johnson, 60, of South Effingham, passed away on Sunday, September 18, 2022, at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, surrounded by her daughters and fiancé.
Sherri was born on June 11, 1962, in Savannah, GA and was an alumnus of Savannah Christian Preparatory School (c/o 1980) and Armstrong Atlantic State University. She had her M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology and was a member of the Mensa high-IQ society. She was a Speech-Language Pathologist for 27 years, spending the last 23 at South Effingham Elementary. She loved her job and her colleagues; helping children brought her so much joy.
Sherri enjoyed cruising in the Caribbean, watching Georgia football, reading, looking for sharks teeth at Pass-a-Grille Beach, gardening, trips to Disney World, and babysitting her grandchildren. She often said that being a mother to her three girls was the greatest achievement of her life. She will especially be remembered for being the best “Shay Shay” to her grandchildren, whom she loved fiercely.
Survivors include: her parents, Joseph "Joe" and Linda Morris of South Effingham; daughters, Taylor Sheridan (Luke) of Rincon, Morgan Christensen (Alexander) of Dunwoody, and Reagan Johnson of Pooler; fiancé, Barry Coppage of South Effingham; brother, Jesse Morris (Trisha) of Savannah; nephews, Joseph and Matthew Morris of Savannah; and three beautiful grandchildren, Tate and Sawyer Sheridan and Hayden Christensen.
A celebration of life visitation will be held at Carlson & Riggs Funeral Home from 5pm - 7pm on Friday, September 23, 2022. A private family service will be held at Bonaventure Cemetery.
