Robert "Bobby" Brantley Murray

February 4, 1943 — December 23, 2020

Guyton

Guyton - Robert Brantley Murray “Bobby” went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, December 23, 2020.  He passed away peacefully surrounded by his partner of 32 years Janice Nease, his daughter, Casey Murray Ivey and son in law, Kyle.

Bobby had a 8th grade education but that never stopped him from anything in life.  He lived life to its fullest at all times.  From working heavy equipment to mining sand to becoming one of Effingham Counties youngest county commissioner (at the time). He truly was a "rags to riches” story coming from nothing and working his way into a profitable business and life.  He was loved and respected by all.  Always willing to help a stranger or a friend.  He loved anything racing, drag racing, NASCAR...he loved it all.  If it went fast or burnt rubber it made him happy.  Bobby was a character, always cutting jokes and watching reruns of Sanford and Son. His favorite saying was “I’m coming to join you Elizabeth!”  Bobby was not currently a member of any church but considered himself a Baptist.  He loved the Lord with all his heart.  No doubt he’s riding around heaven telling stories and spinning wheels.

Surviving are his partner, Janice Nease; her daughter, Polly Hendricks (Jay & Avery); his daughter, Casey Murray Ivey (Kyle); his son, Davey Murray (Lynda); brothers, Donnie, David (Gail); sister, Diane Hensley; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William & Dorothy Murray; and brothers, Gary and Billy. We can only imagine the reunion they are having.

A visitation for family and friends will be held at Riggs Funeral Home on Saturday, December 26, 2020, from 3-5 pm.  There will be no graveside service at this time.  We are finalizing arrangements for a home burial. We will let friends and family know once completed and will have a party to celebrate Bobby's life.

To say this man “Snibby” will be missed is an understatement!
