-Rincon- Pastor Mildred “Millie” S. Lake, 84, passed away Sunday, September 26, 2021, at Hospice Savannah.
Pastor Millie was born in Broxton, Georgia and lived in Effingham County for many years. Her greatest joy came through preaching the Word of God and witnessing to the many people that she came into contact with. She could often be found reading her bible, spending time with her loving family, or working on crafts. Pastor Millie will be missed greatly by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Riley and Nellie Smith; and brothers, A.B., Oben, Carlos, J.V., and Talmadge.
Survivors include: her loving husband of 42 years, James O. Lake, Jr.; children, Thomas Freeman Jr. (Tammy) of Eden, Earl and Joe Bashlor of Savannah, Wendell Lindsey of Faulkville, Billy Philips of Dublin, Gary Thomas of Savannah, Michelle Bird (Danny) of Springfield, Robert Harrelson of Rincon, Leslie Heller (Brian) of Rincon, Heather Lamb (Dallas) of Ellabell, and Trey Davis (Courtney) of Rincon; grandchildren, Keeley Lamb, Blake Heller, Michael Freeman, Thomas Freeman III, Bryce Heller, Odin Harrelson, Skylar Davis, and Paisley Davis; and a number of nieces, nephews, foster children, and many special friends.
Visitation will be held at Carlson & Riggs Funeral Home on Thursday, September 30, 2021, from 5 – 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Carlson & Riggs Funeral Home on Friday, October 1, 2021, at 1 p.m. with entombment to follow at 3 p.m. at Hillcrest Abbey East Cemetery in Savannah, Georgia.
