We are sad to announce the passing of Gwendolyn F. Moss on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at the age of 82. She passed comfortably in her home in Rincon Georgia surrounded by her loving family.
Gwen was born in Savannah Georgia on March 22, 1941, to Callie Beauford. On September 16, 1964, she married John “Jake” Lanier Moss and together they had four children, Christine Moss Collins (Kenneth), Kevin Moss (Donna), Timothy Moss (Misty), and Amy Moss Grell (Dieter).
She met Jake at Southern Bell where she worked for 8 years. Gwen then left Southern Bell in 1965 and discovered her love of raising a family and children. After having her four children she volunteered with the Effingham County PTA. Later in September 1985 she joined the Effingham County Board of Education as a Librarian and a Bus Aid for Effingham High School until 1989. Then in 1999 she became a cashier in the cafeteria until 2003 when she retired from the school system. She served in the school system in some way for almost 30 years.
Gwendolyn was known to be a loving, kind, and compassionate mother and grandmother but also a little bit strict. She was strong in her profession of faith and had a love for the truth of God. She had a passion for family, reading, birds, travel, and education. Gwen loved to work with her hands and was very gifted in sewing and other crafts. She was very witty and loved to improve her mind. All of these talents and passions she passed on to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She had a very deep love for family and friends, with a smile and a hug for anyone and everyone
