-Guyton- Mrs. Betty Ruth Joyner Johnson, 82, passed away, surrounded by her loving family, at her residence on Sunday, April 24, 2022.
Mrs. Betty was born in Millen, Georgia on July 5, 1939, to Palmer and Estell Joyner and lived in Effingham County for many years. She worked for several years at Union Camp, followed by a number of years at Kroger. In her free time, Mrs. Betty enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, bowling, and spending time with her family.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, James Allen Johnson; daughter, Angela Ruth McDonough; parents, Palmer and Estell Joyner; brother, Willard Joyner; and sister, Mildred Hargrove.
Survivors include: her daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Ramie Antee of Guyton; grandchildren, Ramie Antee, IV(Heather), Joshua Antee (Nikki), Jacob Antee (Samantha), and Christopher Britton all of Guyton; great grandchildren, Zachary Antee, Zoe Antee, and Chelsey Powell; step-great grandson, Jacob Polak; and many other extended family members and friends.
Visitation will be held at Carlson and Riggs Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, from 5 – 7pm. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 28, 2022, at 1pm in the chapel of Carlson and Riggs Funeral Home with burial to follow at Effingham Memorial Gardens.
