Ben Hill Meeks, Jr.

Ben “Sonny” Hill Meeks, Jr., 82, passed away on Monday, January 31, 2022, at Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Sonny was born in Dublin, Georgia on October 18, 1939, to Ben Meeks and Georgia Brown and moved to Savannah, at the age of 18, where he met the love of his life, Mary Elaine Meeks. He was a machine operator and could drive most any kinds of equipment. In his free time, Mr. Sonny enjoyed watching the Georgia Bulldogs and NASCAR, and above all spending time with his loving family.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Elaine Meeks; father, Ben Meeks; and mother, Georgia Brown.

Survivors include: his children, Jane Cannon of Springfield, Marcia Green(Michael) of Ellabell, Dwayne Meeks (Bonnie) of Rincon, Melissa Shadley (Greg) of Guyton, David Meeks of Savannah, and Daniel Meeks (Courtney) of Savannah; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A visitation for family and friends will be held at Carlson and Riggs Funeral Home on Saturday, February 5, 2022, from 12 - 2pm.
