William Arden “Ardie” Morgan,67, passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at his home in Springfield, Ga.
Ardie was born on July 12, 1958, in Savannah, Ga and graduated from Effingham County High School in 1977. He was a member of Corinth Baptist Church in Springfield.
For over 30 years, Ardie dedicated his life to the art and craft of tree surgery. He quickly became known for his customer service skills (talking to customers), precision, expertise, and commitment to his work. His hands touched the trunks of countless trees, each one a testament to his skill and love for the job.
Ardie played softball for many years, breaking many records along the way, which lead to him becoming a member of the Effingham County Sports Hall of Fame. Ardie also had an avid love for hunting and enjoyed his time at Morgan hunting club.
He was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Marcia Lynn and Doug Burns; mother, Elizabeth Steed; stepfather, Willie L. Steed; father, Leon Morgan; and sister-in-law, Tammy Morgan.
Those he leaves behind to cherish his memory are his sons, Travis Morgan (Lacie), Aaron Malphrus, and Ashley Morgan; brothers, Timmy Steed (Jenny) and Eddie Morgan; sister, Denise Rahn (Bubba); grandchildren, Katy, Mitchell, Raylin, Bryleigh, RJ, Griffin, Lydia, Harrison & Addisyn; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 8, 2025, at Corinth Baptist Church in Springfield at 12 p.m. with interment to follow in the Corinth Church Cemetery. Come as you are or wear a ball jersey.
