Thomas Matthew Smith

Thomas Matthew Smith, 54, passed away at his residence on Friday, July 14, 2023.

Matt was born in Savannah, Georgia, on December 10, 1968, to Franklin and Gail Smith and lived in Springfield most of his life. For many years, he trained and showed horses all over the country. Matt was a true outdoorsman, who loved fishing and hunting.

He is preceded in death by: his brother, Franklin Smith, Jr.

Matt leaves behind two daughters, McKenzie Jo Smith (Dalton Sims) and Hunter Elizabeth Smith; grandson, Jesse Daylin Smith; parents, Franklin and Gail Smith; and brothers, Blake Smith (MaryAnn), Ben Smith, and Gaylon Smith.

A visitation for family and friends will be held at Carlson & Riggs Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, from 5pm-7pm.
