- MILLEN- Thomas Wiley Pope, 88, of Millen, Georgia passed away Thursday morning at 8am, September 22, 2016 at Select Hospital in Augusta, Georgia.

He was born in Milledgeville, Georgia on July 13, 1928. All of his life, he worked in the heavy equipment construction business, and he loved farming. He was a member of Deep Creek Baptist Church all his life.

The viewing will be held at Riggs Funeral Home in Guyton, Georgia at 10:00am to 11:00am on Monday, September 26, 2016 and burial services will follow at grave site in Millen, Georgia at Millen Cemetery at 2pm.

Thomas is the son of the late Tom A. and Lottie Mae (Bennett) Pope, and step mother Clair Bell (Glisson) Pope. He was preceded in death by his former wife, Nellie Mae (Powell) Pitts, and his brother Quinine H. Pope.

He is survived by his daughters, Nancy Ann P. Jackson of Savannah, Brenda Gail P. and Larry Sapp of Rincon, a son, James Joseph (Joe) and Tina Pope of Rincon, his sister, Beatrice Taylor of Gloversville, SC and grandchildren: Edward E. Cadle III, Michael S. Cadle, David D. Jackson, K. Christine Jackson, James Joseph and Bonnie Sapp, Ambra Gail and Blake Metzger, Misty Lynn and Brian Corley, Andrea and Andrew McKeever all of the Savannah/Rincon area and many great grandchildren.
