Frances Youmans Seckinger, 90, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 2, 2023, at The Legacy at Savannah Quarters.
Mrs. Frances Seckinger was born in Garden City, Georgia, on May 7, 1932, to Levy and Fannie Mae Youmans but lived in Effingham County for many years. She was a member of Springfield United Methodist Church. Being the first female to hold an elected position in the Effingham County Judicial System, The Honorable Judge Frances Seckinger was elected probate judge in 1977 and faithfully served the residents of Effingham County for 31 years, before retiring in May of 2008. Lovingly known by her family as Nana Frances, she will forever be remembered for her generous and caring heart. One of favorite hobbies was crocheting blankets for her friends and family.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Frank Donald Seckinger; son, Donald “Donny” Seckinger; parents, Levy and Fannie Mae Youmans; and sisters, Patricia “Patsy” Sallette, Mary Dotson and Myrtle Hicks.
She leaves behind a daughter, Lisa Proctor (Elliott); brother, Levy “Buck” Youmans, Jr.; granddaughter, Aubrey Sims (Herbert); grandson, James Carlson (Liz); great grandchildren, Brianna Carlson, Tyler Carlson, Evan Sallette, Aizlee Carlson, and Adalee Carlson; brothers-in-law, Mickey Sallette and Richard Dotson; and many other loving family members and friends.
Visitation will be held at Carlson & Riggs Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, from 11am to 12pm with a funeral service to follow in the chapel of the funeral home at 12pm. Interment will take place in the Springfield Cemetery.
