Jack Wesley Summers, 78, of Guyton, Georgia and husband of Marjorie Tillman Summers, died Wednesday morning, May 20,2026, at Candler Hospital.

Born on September 22, 1947, to the deceased father, Charlie Summers and the deceased mother Beatrice E. Beavers Summers Goswick.

A proud patriot, Jack served his country honorably in the United States Army, retiring as a Sergeant First Class after a commendable career that included service during the Vietnam Era. He continued his commitment to the Army as a recruiter, helping to shape the future of countless soldiers.

Jack was also a lifelong learner who pursued a bachelor's degree, demonstrating his dedication to education and personal development. His passion for service extended beyond the military as he dedicated himself to the Masonic community, spending over 50 years as a member. Jack was respected as a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and an enthusiastic participant in the Alee Shriners band, where his talent for music brought joy to many, especially marching in the St. Patrick’s Day parades.

An avid outdoorsman, Jack found solace and pleasure in fishing, camping, and golfing. He also relished the simple joys of life, finding happiness in cooking and grilling for family and friends. His culinary skills and love for sharing a good meal were legendary among those who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his father, Charlie Summers, his mother, Beatrice Beavers Summers Goswick, and his stepfather, Buck Goswick. The values and strength passed down from his mother and stepfather were clearly reflected in Jack’s own life and character.

Those who will cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 40 years, Marjorie Summers; his son and daughter-in-law, Samuel and Kera Summers; and his treasured granddaughter, Leta Summers; his brothers, Danny Goswick, Richard Goswick, and Davis Summers of Dalton, Georgia, all of whom brought immense joy to his life. He is also mourned by a community of friends and colleagues who were touched by his unwavering kindness and generosity.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Carlson & Riggs Funeral Home.

Jack Wesley Summers leaves behind a legacy of love, loyalty, and happy memories. His kindness and unwavering spirit will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
