Selby Mitchell Fleming

Selby Mitchell Fleming, 65, passed away on Monday, June 5, 2023, at Memorial Hospital, under the care of Gentiva Hospice.

Selby was born in Meridian, Mississippi on December 13, 1957, and lived in Quitman, Mississippi. He graduated from Quitman High School in 1977 and moved to Texas around the age of 19 years old to eventually became a master carpenter. Selby traveled for work with his family to Florida, Mississippi, and eventually settled in Springfield in 1995 to raise his family. In 2012 he left Springfield and made Savannah his home.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Jaqueline Fleming Wells; papaw, Austin Jackson Fleming; mamaw, Dolly Downey Fleming; sister, Rebecca Ann Risinger; step-father, Julius Edgar Wells; and step-sister, Karen Wells Roberts.

Survivors include: his son, Lynden Austin Fleming of Rincon; daughter and son-in-law, Hannah and Steven Lancaster of Rincon; grandchildren, Lillith and Tristan of Rincon; brother and sister-in-law, William Austin and Rose Mary Braesfield of Hockley, Tx; step-sister and husband, Kerri Wells and Buddy Reynolds of Trinity, Tx; step-brother, Emory Bruce Wells of Madisonville, Tx; step-brother and wife, Gordon and Becky Wells of Madisonville, Tx; step-brother and wife, David “Skeeter” and Kim Wells of Fort Worth, Tx; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
