Robert Gene Scomo, 81, passed away peacefully at home on December 4, 2025, in Pooler, Georgia.
Born on May 3, 1944, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Bob attended Girard College for Boys. He later moved with his family to Medford, New Jersey, where he spent most of his life and built a home filled with love, hard work, and enduring friendships.
Bob shared 47 wonderful years of marriage with his late wife, Toni, and together they created a life centered around family and his business. He and his wife proudly owned and operated their own landscaping and irrigation business for many years, taking great pride in his craft and in serving his community. Earlier in life, he served in the Army National Guard until a hand injury led to his honorable discharge. His strength, determination, and dedication never wavered.
Whether at work, on the golf course or tending to his yard, Bob found joy in being outdoors. He was known for his warm heart, quiet humor, and his willingness to lend a hand wherever it was needed.
Bob is survived by his loving son, Mark Scomo; daughter-in-law, Hayley Scomo; and his cherished granddaughters, Marissa and Cecilia, as well as the dogs, Pepper and Nugget who brought light to his later years. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Toni.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages loved ones to honor Bob’s memory by spending time outdoors or taking a moment to appreciate the simple beauty in nature — something he enjoyed every day.
A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday evening, December 11, 2025, at 6 o’clock at Carlson & Riggs Funeral Home Chapel, 1979 Hwy 119 S., Guyton. A reception will follow at 7 o’clock at District Square Lounge, 503 N. Laurel St., Springfield.
