Recia "Faye" Ray

January 5, 1954 — March 31, 2024

Rincon

Recia “Faye” Ray,70, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 31, 2024, in the comfort of her own home while reading her Bible. While she will be missed by many, we are thankful that she is finally reunited with her beloved husband, Johnny William Ray, who passed away in 2017.

Faye was born on January 5, 1954, in Savannah, Ga. and was raised by her adoptive parents, Thomas Long & Marie (Harrelson) Long. She grew up in Effingham County surrounded by a loving family including two sisters, cousins, and aunts & uncles.

Faye was a 1972 graduate of Effingham County High School, where she received the honor of making the “Who’s Who” list of American students. After graduating, she received additional training in Home Health Care. Her passion was helping others & caring for the elderly.

Faye was a loving mother, devoted wife, and proud “Nina”. She treasured spending time with her son, grandsons, and great-grandchildren and embraced every moment spent with them. In her free time, she enjoyed cooking, drawing, gardening, & studying her Bible.

Faye was a faithful woman who loved the Lord, her family, church (Maranatha Family Church), and community. Her life was a living example of one of her favorite Bible verses, Ephesians 4:32~“And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.”

She is preceded in death by her parents: biological parents, William & Florence Sherrod and adoptive parents, Thomas Long & Marie Long

Faye is survived by her son, Thomas Ray (Simone); grandchildren, Austin Ray (Madaline), Elias, and Jordan; great-grandchildren, Olivia and Zane; sisters, Patricia and Anne; and several cousins, aunts & uncles.
