-Rincon- Mr. Joseph Latrell Howard, 81, passed away Monday, November 2, 2015. Mr. Howard was born on August 30, 1934 in Screven County, he was a Veteran serving in the United States Navy, he was a retired from Hunter Army Air Field as a civil service worker, he previously served as Chief of Southside Fire Department Montgomery Division, and was a Master Mason. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Ashton and Mary Ola Howard; brothers and sisters, Mardell Steed, JA Howard, DeWitt Howard and Mary Davis. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Betty R. Howard; sons, Joseph Michael Howard (Constance) and Mark L. Howard; grandsons, Justin M. Howard and J. Hunter Howard; brothers and sisters, Onnie Derryberry, Louise Steed, Lavert Howard, Truman Howard, Bobby Howard, Lois Rahn, Marcell Burnett, Shirley Wilson, Catherine Howard, Tony Howard and Tonya Ramsey; sister-in-law, Clara Howard. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Masroor and Staff for many years of dedication and service to Mr. Joseph and his family. Memorial Contributions may be made in honor of Mr. Howard to the Masonic Children's Hospital. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 5, 2015, from 7 - 9 p.m. at Riggs Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 6, 2015 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with burial to follow in the Johnson Family Cemetery near Midville, Georgia.
