Mr. John Edwards Malphus

Mr. John Edwards Malphus Jr., 56, of Sylvania, Georgia, passed away on May 5, 2014 at Slyview Nursing Home. John was born in Savannah, Georgia,was a construction worker and a member of Millen Baptist Church. Mr. Edwards is survived by his wife, Shirley Malphus; parents, Edward and Susie Malphus of Statesboro; son, John E. Malphus, III of Dublin; brother, Donnie Maphus (Corinda Grey) of Hinesville; step-brother, Earl Lewis Conaway (Janet) of Bloomingdale; sisters, Doris Rogers (Eddie) of Barnwell, SC, Annie Hoover of Guyton, Amy James of Statesboro and Betty Edwards (James) of Stilson, and two grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 6 - 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at Riggs Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 8, 2014 in the chapel of the funeral home with burial to follow at Turkey Branch Baptist Church Cemetery.
