Mr. Charles Eugene "Gene" Swain

-Waycross- Mr. Charles Eugene "Gene" Swain passed away Monday, July 6, 2015, at his daughter's residence in Springfield, Georgia. He was born on August 24, 1942 in Homeland, Georgia to Mr. Charles David Swain and Mrs. Allie Clara Mercer Swain Buchanan, but lived in Waycross most of his life before moving to Savannah, Georgia in 1964. He graduated from Manor High School in 1964 and moved to Savannah, Georgia to work there. i�½i�½In 1965 he met and married his loving wife where on September 18th they would have been married for 50 years. Their union was blessed with the birth of their daughter, Gena, followed by the birth of their son, David, 23 months later. i�½i�½He accepted Christ into his life in 1972 and was loyal to Him faithfully through the years. He was a member and deacon in the Church of God of Prophecy in Savannah for 35 years before moving back to Waycross in 2007 where he became a member of the Waresboro Church of God. He was an honest loving man with a giving heart. Nothing did he love better than giving and sharing with others. He had a special gift for fundraising for the church and got more donations than anyone else, especially for the churches annual Fall Festival. He was loved and respected by all he met. He worked as a professional truck driver the bulk of his life, retiring from Colonial Oil Industries after 29 i�½_ years. He worked for US Food-service, retiring after 8 years, then moved back to Waycross where he hauled pine straw to Atlanta until he was no longer able to in April of this year. i�½i�½He was preceded in death by his mother, Clara Mercer Swain Buchanan; his father, Charles David Swain; step-father, Marvin Buchanan; 3 brothers, J.D., Jessie and Alton Swain and sister, Evelyn Winn. Survivors include his loving wife, Diane Swain; daughter, Gena Howard (Scott); son, David Swain (Amy); brother, David Edgar Swain (Nellie); 6 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
