Guyton

Mitchell Dee Owens, 67, passed away on  February 16, 2024 at home in Guyton, GA after a brief illness. Mitchell was born in Nashville, TN and spent most of his life in Griffin, GA.

Affectionately known as "Mitch" In his younger years he enjoyed scuba diving for coral in south Florida then he became a carpenter. Then he learned to be a tattoo artist, and successfully operated two studios in middle Georgia along with his former wife. Mitch loved bluegrass music and attempted to play the harmonica. He loved old architecture, cars, movies, and antiques. Mitchell enjoyed cooking, and creating solutions for all sorts of problems. He was very good at growing things such as, tomatoes, peppers, and other goodies. He enjoyed sharing all of his crops. He shared memories of beautiful beaches he visited with his family. Tybee Island was one of the most visited by Mitchell where he loved to fly kites and collect sea shells. He was a political junkie for the last 4 years and strongly supported the MAGA movement. He was very proud of his beautiful daughters and spoke of their special qualities often. He loved to make people laugh and was a great storyteller.

About 7 years ago Mitch's sister, Rachel found him and their brother Carl after years of sharing the same father, Herman Dee Owens who sadly passed away very young. It was and always will be a huge treasure to the family that they found each other.

Mitchell is preceded in death by his father Herman Dee Owens and his beloved stepfather Glen Entreken.

Mitch leaves behind his companion of 5 years, Sandra Lowery, his mother Rose Entreken of Molena, GA, his two lovely daughters, Amanda Bandy (Mark) of Rock Mount, GA, Tabitha Kippley (Nate) of Appleton, WI, his beautiful sister Rachel Dee Owens of Arcadia, FL and his brother Carl Anthony Owens of Dayton, OH. He also leaves 5 grandchildren: Gabriel, Rhys, Teagan, Caleb, and Kellen. Also a host of wonderful nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

To honor Mitch a private celebration of life will be held at Tybee Island Sunday, February 25, 2024.
