Meliss Barber

Meliss Ann Barber, 66, passed away at home surrounded by her family on Friday, June 27, 2025.

Meliss was born on November 4, 1958, in Savannah, GA. She moved to Ohio when she was a teenager, and after marrying her husband, Gary (1985), she moved back to Georgia in 1996 where she lived the rest of her life. Meliss was a dedicated wife and mother. 

In the year 2000, she began to hope in Jesus Christ and followed him in faith for 25 years until he called her home. She loved to cook and was a woman marked by generosity and hospitality. 

Meliss was preceded in death by her father, Christian. She is survived by her husband, Gary; sons, Sam (Jessie) and Max (Alaina); mother, Virginia; sister, Katherine; brothers, Christian (Margaret) and Jason (Tammy); grandchildren, Alexis, Aubrie, Silas, Charlotte, Theo, and Griffin; as well as many nephews and nieces. 

A celebration of life will be held at 5:00 pm on July 6 at Redeemer Baptist Church, 226 Goshen Road, Rincon, Georgia, 31326. The family will receive visitors the hour prior starting at 4:00 pm at the same location. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Redeemer Baptist Church (https://visitrbc.org/giving/).
