Maxie Janie Brown Harvey, 84, of Guyton, Georgia and widow of John Walton Harvey, died Wednesday morning, November 5, 2025, at Effingham Care & Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Statesboro, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Albert Brown and the late Bessie Parrish Brown. Maxie was a member of the Louisiana Avenue Church of Christ.
She enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing and raising chickens. Maxie liked fishing and was known for scaling the fish with ease. Her greatest thrill was spending time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Ernistine Rigdon and Marblee Hodge and her brothers, John Brown and Ed Brown.
Those who will cherish her memory are her sons, John Harvey and Tim Harvey; brother, Albert Brown; grandchildren, Michael Dylan Harvey, Noah Conner Harvey, Ali Grace Harvey, Toni Richbourg and Alex Holt; great-grandchildren, Kynleigh Holt, Karson Holt, Ian Holt Carson Lee Richbourg, Bentley Richbourg and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 o’clock, Saturday morning, November 15, 2025, at Carlson & Riggs Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 11 o’clock Saturday morning, November 15, 2025, in the chapel of Carlson & Riggs Funeral Home conducted by Pastor Don Davis. Burial will follow at Bryan Neck Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
