Leslie Dean Moore, Sr., husband of Margaret Louise Perry Moore, age 80, passed away Wednesday evening, September 24, 2025, at Effingham County Hospital, with his loving family by his side.
He was born on December 8. 1944 in Tusculum, Georgia to the late James W. Moore and the late Jewell Glisson Moore. After graduating high school he pursued a career in retail sales, retiring from Revco Discount Drug Stores. Leslie met the love of his life Margaret Louise Perry, marrying her in 1966.
Leslie loved to fish. He was also an accomplished singer and musician, writing many original songs. He played the banjo, harmonica, and guitar. Leslie loved spending time with his family, but the joy of his life was spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Lorraine Moore and Nina Buttersworth.
Those who will cherish his memory are his loving wife of 59 years, Margaret Louise Perry Moore; son, Leslie Dean Moore, Jr., of Seymour, Tennessee; daughter and son-in-law, Misty Denise & Eric Ranew; grandchildren, Carson Ranew, Emma Ranew, Baily Moore, and Alyssa Moore; and great-grandchild, Willow Iris Vance.
The family will receive friends at Carlson and Riggs Funeral Home on Saturday morning, September 27, 2025, from 10:00 until 11:00.
The funeral service will follow in the Carlson and Riggs Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 A.M., conducted by Pastor Matt Hines. Interment will follow in The Union Cemetery in Springfield, Georgia.
