It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Joyce Coursey Fort. Joyce peacefully departed this world on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at the age of 80.
Born on Wednesday, November 14, 1945, Joyce was the treasured daughter of the late Robert and Minnie Ruth Coursey. Her life served as a testament to love, kindness, and an enduring affection for nature and animals.
A devoted spouse for 59 remarkable years, Joyce is survived by her loving husband, Walter Wayne Fort, with whom she shared an unwavering bond. Together, they built a life full of cherished memories and enduring love. Joyce was the proud mother of her son, Kelly Wayne Fort, who, alongside his wife Stella, brought immense joy to her days. Her family was further enriched by the presence of her grandchildren, Erik Parker and Rachelle Falcon, both of whom held a special place in her heart.
Joyce's brother, John Coursey, and her extended family, including several beloved nieces and nephews, also survive her, all of whom were touched by her warmth and generosity.
A woman of deep empathy and compassion, Joyce had a love for all animals. She was often found basking in the glory of nature, spending time outdoors, captivated by the fluttering dance of hummingbirds and bluebirds. Her four-legged companions, both dogs and cats, were constant confidants and companions, bringing joy to her peaceful days.
The community shares in the loss of Joyce, who was not only a family treasure but an embodiment of love and serenity. Her presence will be sorely missed by her many friends and all who knew her.
In honoring Joyce's life, we invite those who knew her to celebrate her legacy by sharing a fond memory, caring for an animal, or simply enjoying the beauty of a day spent outdoors, just as Joyce loved to do. She will forever be remembered in hearts and minds as a beacon of kindness and love.
