Joseph Reynolds Oliver, Jr., 84, of Savannah, Georgia and beloved husband of Janice Tuten Oliver, passed away peacefully at his home Thursday morning, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Charlston, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Joseph Reynolds Oliver, Sr. and the late Frances Xavier Lewis Oliver. A man of deep faith, he was a member of St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church. Joseph proudly served his county during Operation Desert Storm. Following his honorable discharge, he worked for the Department of Defense, specializing in building and repairing ships. Joseph was a dedicated member of the Freemasons for over thirty years. He enjoyed boating and fishing, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family and grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Thomas Joseph Oliver; brother Fred Oliver; and his sisters, Frances Daly and Mary Miller.
His memory will be forever cherished by his devoted wife of 32 years, Janice Tuten Oliver; his son and daughter-in-law, David Lea & Susan Oliver; his stepdaughters and sons-in-law, Shannon & Lynn Murray and Eleanor & Curtis Parker; sister, Mary Miller; his nine grandchildren, Corey Oliver, Joseph Oliver, Shea Oliver, Samantha Oliver, Taylor Murray, Tanner Murray, Sofia Parker, Elizabeth Parker and Merritt Parker; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews, and extended family members.
Funeral services will be announced at a later date.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Carlson & Riggs Funeral Home.
