Janice Katherine (Jan/Jay) Kosek of Springfield GA was called home peacefully to her final resting place in heaven with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 19th, 2026.
She was born in Steubenville OH on January 22nd, 1944, and was baptized in Holy Name Cathedral on February 6th, 1944.
She was daughter of the late Frank and Lenora Kosek, and was preceded in death by her brother James Michael, sisters Mary Linda and Margaret Jean, and her sweet baby boy Thomas Joseph (Tommy). She is survived by her sister, Frances Anne and brother-in-law Philip.
Janice had a very strong Catholic faith and was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Effingham County GA. She loved to play games, read, and spent many afternoons playing dominoes with her friends at the Effingham Care & Rehabilitation Center. She also loved to work on jigsaw puzzles, often gifting them to friends and to those who needed a little extra lift.
A memorial mass will be held at St. Boniface Catholic Church, and she will be buried Honey Creek Woodlands, a conservation burial ground located within the Monastery of the Holy Spirits grounds, at some future date.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Marianne Avila, Kathy O’Sako, Pat Walters, and the staff at the Effingham Care & Rehabilitation Center for all the care, kindness and assistance they showed her.
