Janett Stinchcomb Harris, 81, of Springfield, GA, formerly of Cumberland, MD, passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2026, at Effingham Care and Rehabilitation Center, Springfield, GA.

Born on November 10, 1944, in Baltimore, MD, Mrs. Harris was the daughter of the late Virgil Stinchcomb and Edna Morris Stinchcomb. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Charles “Charlie” Harris.

Janett was a 1962 graduate of Parkville High School in Parkville, MD. As a young woman, Janett was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was also a member of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary and volunteered at the USO in Baltimore, MD, where she met her husband.

Janett worked for the Allegany County Board of Education for almost 34 years. She was very active in the county, state, and national education associations, as well as various educational support organizations, serving on the board of each organization over her career.

Janett had a true volunteer spirit. In her “free” time, she was a troop leader and board member of Shawnee Girl Scout Council and a long-time member and board member of the Rocky Gap Volunteer Team. She was a strong supporter of the Allegany High School Marching Band during her daughter’s high school years and spent many years helping backstage at Sally’s Dance Studio recitals.

Janett is survived by her daughter, Adrienne (Cory) Wilson, of Rincon, GA; her grandsons, Aidan and River Wilson, of Rincon, GA; two nephews, a niece, and several cousins.

Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, MD, on Saturday, February 14, 2026, from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. A memorial service will follow.

The family would like to sincerely thank the nurses and staff at Effingham Care and Rehabilitation Center.
