James “Jim” Ervin Floyd, Jr., 90, of Newington, Georgia, and widower of Louise Stone Floyd and Barbara Sergeant Floyd, passed away peacefully Sunday evening, August 16, 2026, at his residence, surrounded by his loved ones.
Jim was born in Pembroke, Georgia, to the late James Ervin Floyd, Sr., and Leola Mitchell Floyd. Following high school, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy, a chapter of his life that reflected his deep patriotism, and his commitment to being a defender of democracy.

Outside of his career, Jim found joy in gardening and planting trees. He appreciated the simple rewards of working with his hands and watching something grow, reflecting the same care and dedication he brought to so many areas of his life.
In addition to his parents and wives, Jim was preceded in death by his son, Terrell West Floyd; his brothers, Albert Floyd, Colen Floyd, and Jeff Floyd; and his sisters, Lucille Webster, Maxie McCoy, and Hester Baxter.
