Elizabeth (Bette) Brown, 80, a longtime resident of Rockdale County, Georgia, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, February 13, 2019, with family at her side.
Bette was born in Newark, New York, but lived most of her life in the State of Georgia. She loved, and was loved by, her family, her friends, her pets, and her church. She was a kind and compassionate person who always seemed to find the good in others. Her home was open to those in need, and over the years she welcomed many who seemed to have lost their way - both human and animal alike. Bette will be dearly missed by all those who were lucky enough to have known her.
Bette leaves behind her husband, Phillip Brown, her three children, Christi Massey and her husband John, Wendy Sheridan and her husband John, and Craig Leifels and his wife Ruth, in addition to a multitude of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Bette was preceded in death by her parents, Florence and Harold Sawyer, her siblings, Robert Sawyer, Alfred Sawyer, Richard Sawyer, and Eleanor Schmalz, her first husband and father of her three children, Albert Edward Leifels, and her second husband, and loving stepdad to her children, Alfred (A. B.) Paul.
A memorial service will be held at 4pm on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Epiphany Lutheran Church in Conyers, GA. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
A private interment will take place at Green Meadow Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to PAWS Atlanta, 5287 Covington Highway, Decatur, Georgia 30035. www.pawsatlanta.org/donate
