Edgar Emmanuel Watkins Jr., 53, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his loved ones.
Born on January 11, 1972, in Miami, Florida, to the late Edgar Watkins Sr. and Joan Watkins, Edgar lived a life defined by kindness, integrity, and deep devotion to his family and friends.
For more than a decade, Edgar shared his passion for football as a coach, inspiring countless young men both on and off the field. He was also a dedicated employee at the Hyatt, where he served as an assistant engineer director.
A lifelong sports enthusiast, Edgar was an avid supporter of the Buffalo Bills. When he wasn’t on the sidelines or cheering for his team, he enjoyed watching movies and spending time with his family—his greatest joy and priority.
Edgar was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar Watkins Sr. and Joan Watkins.
He will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 16 years, Tynia Watkins; his son, Tevon Gordon of Jacksonville, Florida; his daughters, Erielle Watkins and grandson, Ace Amair Norman of West Palm Beach, Florida, Tehraja Owens of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Kaylee Watkins of Guyton, Georgia; his sister, Ladez Watkins; his niece, Jonai Perry, and great-niece, Zia Hughes, all of Plantation, Florida; three aunts; and many other beloved family members and friends.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Carlson & Riggs Funeral Home.
