Donnie E. Hodges

November 1, 1951 — February 1, 2018

Donnie E. Hodges 66, passed away at Memorial Hospital on February 1 after a long illness.

Mr. Hodges was a member of Goshen Road Baptist Church. Donnie was also a member of the Springfield Masonic Lodge 440 F&AM. Donnie was an avid hunter and fisherman. Among his other interests were Honda Goldwing motorcycle riding, telling stories, living on his Ebenezer Creek property and nurturing dogs and various other animals. Mr. Hodges got great pleasure from singing and playing the guitar, He became somewhat of a well-known musician. No one loved life or enjoyed the outdoors more than Donnie. He was a wonderful husband, father, and brother. His priority of life was his family.

Preceded in death by: his parents, Euless and Rita Hodges; and his brother, Rev. Frankie Hodges.

Survivors include: wife, Brenda; sons, James Gladin, Jr. (Diane) of Rincon, Dennis Exley of Rincon, Patrick Exley (Kelly) of Atlanta; daughter, Katrina Laygo of Savannah; brothers, Ronnie Hodges (Peggy) of Putnam County, Wayne Hodges (Jill) of Guyton and Gary Hodges (Cathy) of Guyton; sisters, Anita Kessler (Ray) of Guyton and Nancy Cubbedge of Rincon; a number of grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at Goshen Road Baptist Church on Sunday, February 4, 2018 at 2 p.m with Rev. Corey Moore officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in memory of Donnie E. Hodges to the Goshen Road Baptist Church Fund.
