David Roy Stone

Mr. David Roy Stone, 74, passed away Thursday, October 31, 2019, at Memorial Hospital.

Mr. David was born on July 22, 1945 in Savannah, Georgia and grew up in the downtown Savannah area.  When he was 17 years old, he joined the United States Marine Corps. He highly respected the Marine Corps. and became a Sergeant at the age of 18 years old. He trained the men who served in the time of the Vietnam War to defend the United States of America.

David was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. God gave him a special talent with woodworking, which he truly enjoyed. He proudly attended Northside Baptist Church in Rincon, where he and his son built the church steeple.

Survivors include: his loving wife, Sue Aladene Stone; daughters, Theresa Lynn Stone of Rincon, Melinda Jenny Stone of Charleston, SC, and Nicole Aladene Fussell (Henry) of Jasper, GA; son, Joseph Lee Cooley Jr. of Rincon; grandchildren: Matthew Spaulding, Kayla Wombolt, Alex Hulsey, Aubrie Nease, Charlie Cooper, David Wadsworth, Brett Fussell, Jessica Fussell, Jodie Sue Cooley, Danielle Barber, Deanna Barber, Ryan Hulsey, and Zachary Hulsey; great grandchildren: Darryl Spaulding, Sean Wombolt, Olivia Wombolt, Cole Wombolt, and Wesley Cooper; and many other family members and friends.

A visitation for family and friends will be held at Northside Baptist Church on Saturday, November 2, 2019 from 1 – 2PM with funeral services to follow at 2PM. Interment will be held in the Springfield Annex Cemetery.

Riggs Funeral Home in Guyton is in charge of all arrangements for Mr. David Roy Stone.
