Claudette Jordan

Helen Claudette Jordan, 84, passed away peacefully at her residence on Sunday, June 4, 2023.

Claudette was born in Savannah, Georgia, on December 9, 1938, to Henry Horton and Lucile Wetherington. She was a 1958 Effingham County High School graduate and retired from nursing after 25+ years of service. Claudette was a faithful member of Pine Street Baptist Church and loved spending time with her church family. In her free time, Claudette enjoyed cooking and entertaining, but above all she treasured most were the times spent with her loving children and grandchildren. Mrs. Jordan was also a member of the Guyton Women’s Club, a member of the Guyton Historic Society, a volunteer at the Old Savannah City Mission, and a volunteer with the Prison Ministry for many years.  Claudette also had a great love for traveling and always enjoyed going to see her favorite baseball team, the Atlanta Braves, "Play ball!" Some of her other favorite hobbies included crocheting, cross stitching and sewing; which led her to sewing many flags for Veterans across the world.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Henry Claude Horton and Lucile S. Wetherington; daughter, Susan Lynn Owens; brothers, Leon Horton and Jimmy Wetherington; and sister, Edith Morris.

Survivors include her daughters, Liz Altman (Wayne) of Springfield, Angie Roach (David) of New Braunfels, Texas, and Janet Roberts (J.R) of Midway; sister, Jean Hadwin (Randy) of Hampton, South Carolina; grandchildren, Monica Exley of Guyton, Derek Bazemore of Seattle, Washington, Kori Quick of Florida, Adam Hodges of Greenville, South Carolina, Josh Heath of Guyton, Jordan Heath of Florida, and Billy Beasley of Rincon; great grandchildren, Ashton Heath, Avery Heath, Logan Stevens, and Merrick Exley; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.

Visitation will be held at Carlson & Riggs Funeral Home on Friday, June 9, 2023, from 6-8pm. A funeral service will be held at Pine Street Baptist Church on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at 11am with interment to follow in the Guyton Cemetery.
