Cheryl Marie DeSimas, aged 56, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 10, 2025.
Born on August 31, 1968, in Augusta, Georgia. Cheryl was raised in Savannah, where she grew up surrounded by the love and support of her family. She was preceded in death by her mother, Edith Gattman; her father, William “Bill” Gattman; and her sister, Belinda “Lyndy” Gattman.
On May 20, 1989, Cheryl married the love of her life, Mark DeSimas. Together, they shared 36 wonderful years of marriage filled with laughter, adventure, and deep devotion.
Cheryl is survived by her loving husband, Mark, and their four children: Joshua (Caitlan) DeSimas, Brandon DeSimas, Noah “Chase” DeSimas, and Olivia DeSimas. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Delilah and Dax DeSimas. She also leaves behind her dear sisters, Nancy Gattman and Susan Gattman, as well as several nieces and nephews who will forever hold her in their hearts.
Cheryl had an unwavering love for her family and friends. She found immense joy in spending time with her children and grandchildren, who were the light of her life. She loved shopping and traveling with her husband, creating many treasured memories over the years. Cheryl also deeply valued the close bond she shared with her sisters and treasured every moment they spent together. A creative and talented woman, Cheryl had a passion for arts and crafts and a special love for sewing.
Cheryl will be remembered for her kindness, her generous spirit, and the unconditional love she gave so freely. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be held at Carlson & Riggs Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, from 6-8pm. A graveside service will be held at 10am on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at Effingham Memorial Gardens
