Celeste Elkins Griner

Celeste Elkins Griner, 78, of Rincon, Georgia and widow of Johnnie Griner, died peacefully on Saturday morning October 10, 2026, at Effingham Care & Rehabilitation Center.

Born in Guyton, Georgia on May 29, 1948, to the late John Quincy Elkins and the late Ruth Blanchard Elkins. Celeste worked as a landscaper for many years. She liked gardening and yardwork. Celeste enjoyed singing with her sisters. She relished the beach, fishing and boating. Celeste was an avid walker but her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 21 years Johnnie Griner; her parents John Quincy Elkins and Ruth Blanchard Elkins; son, John Eugene Arnsdorff; and her sister, Ginger Exley.

Those who will cherish her memory are her daughter and son-in-law, Amy Celeste & Troy Johns; sisters, Jackie Strickland and Cecile (David) Baker; grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth Arnsdorff, Camden Johns and Natalie Johns; great-grandchildren, Nolan Arnsdorff, Tristan Arnsdorff and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held Thursday morning October 15, 2026, at 10 o’clock at Carlson & Riggs Funeral Home Chapel. The memorial service will follow at 11 o’clock conducted by her nephew Derrick Exley.
