Anthony Garic "Gary" Benevides

Anthony Garic “Gary” Benevides, 91, of Guyton, Georgia, passed away peacefully at home on April 15, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Cynthia Mavis Clatworthy Benevides.

Born on October 10, 1934, in Paget Parish, Bermuda, Gary was the son of the late Anthony Elias Benevides and Helen Mello. He was a member of Coastal Bible Fellowship and enjoyed a long career as a pilot for private airlines.

Gary had a deep love for life and the outdoors. He enjoyed saltwater fishing, boating, golfing, gardening, and listening to Hawaiian music. He was especially passionate about flying, traveling the world, and spending time at the beach with his family. He was an island boy at heart.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Cynthia Mavis Clatworthy Benevides; his sons and daughter-in-law, Andrew Paul Benevides, and Mark Anthony Benevides and his wife Margaret; his daughter, Debra Jane Dietz Benevides; his grandchildren, Timothy (Brittany), Seth (Margaret), Aaron (Maddie), and Corey; as well as 10 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his sister, Sandra Benevides.

He will be dearly missed by all those who knew him.
