Allen E. Webb

Mr. Allen E. Webb, age 90, died December 9th at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility.
He was born in Candler County and moved with his family to Bulloch County in 1935. After graduating from Statesboro High School, he joined the US Army. He later achieved a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1958 from Georgia Teacher's College and in 1965 earned a Master's Degree from University of Georgia. He loved woodworking and used his talents as a high school shop teacher, furniture maker and builder. Many area churches are blessed with items he built for them. He was also a devoted volunteer with Habitat for Humanity helping to build 53 houses in Bulloch and Effingham Counties. In 2016, he received the Deen Day Smith Lifetime Achievement Award for his virtuous donations of time and talents. He was an active member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Springfield, GA.
Mr. Webb was preceded in death by: his wife, Catherine Kieffer Webb; his parents Elmer and Corine Webb; his granddaughter, Ashton Elizabeth Webb; sister, Elaine Hulst; and brother, James Webb. Survivors are: his daughter, Linda Christy (James) of Statesboro; his son, Lee Webb (Cheryl) of Phoenix, AZ; five grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter (scattered in Arizona, CO, and Hawaii); sister, Laura Aziz of Statesboro; brother, W. J. Webb (Gilda) of LaGrange, GA; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 3:30 to 5:30 pm at Riggs Funeral Home in Guyton. The funeral service will be Thursday at 11 am at Bethel Lutheran Church in Springfield. Interment will follow immediately in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be made to Bethel Lutheran Church (1984 Hwy 21 N, Springfield, GA 31329) or Habitat for Humanity of Bulloch County (P O Box 1253, Statesboro, GA 30458).
